I recently visited Universal Studios in Orlando and spent 3 days exploring both of there theme parks. I hadn't been there for a couple of years so were keen to see all the new attractions. I had heard about the raptor encounter when it opened at the end of 2015 but had forgotten about it.
The raptor encounter is actually located in Universal's Island of Adventure between Camp Jurassic and the Jurassic Parc Discovery Center. It's really well hidden and the entrance sign is pretty small so you could easily walk passed it without even realising.
It not a ride more of an experience, you have to queue up and we waited about 15 minutes but it was well worth it. To set the scene you are on the outside of Jurassic Park behind a huge 10,000 volt electric fence which happens to have a big hole in!
If you get there first you will see them bring out the 9ft Velociraptor which is really impressive and life like. It makes a lot of noise and likes to rub it's self on your head so be prepared for that, it could scare small kids!
You are introduced to the velociraptor but this is a wild animal that likes to eat people so it's a little unpredictable! Make sure you have your camera ready and the Jurassic Park staff will happily take photos for you.
This was one of the best new attractions we visited at Universal Studios and a must. There are no published times on the Universal Studios website so it's a matter of visiting the attraction to find out when it's open each day.
