Back in February 2015 we got the chance to visit the brand new Diagon Alley section of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Orlando. Unfortunately it was a little rainy and overcast but actually kind of looks how I imagine the real Diagon Alley would look so pretty cool.
Diagon Alley Walking Tour at Universal Studios Orlando
Here is a video walking tour of Diagon Alley showing you the layout and as you can see the detail is incredible, now I will admit I am now a massive Harry Potter fan but after seeing this it made me really want to get in to it. As you walk around you see people dressed as Harry and various other characters and these are not people who work in Diagon Alley these are fans that love it!
We recently returned again in June and a lady in front of me was dressed in a full witches outfit which looked amazing but it was about 95F, you have to be a big fan to where that when it's that hot!
You start outside of Diagon Alley in London where you have King's Cross Station, red phone boxes and infamous purple double decker bus which real Harry Potter fans will know of. You enter Diagon Alley through the Leicester Square tube entrance and then you appear in Diagon Alley.
The main attraction / ride in Diagon alley is Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts which is a multi dimensional 3D thrill ride, well that's what the Universal Studios web site say but I say it's awesome and amazing!
You enter the ride in to Gringotts Bank with it's marbled floors and goblin bank tellers and then descend in the cavernous passageways.
There are loads of shops around Diagon Alley which feature in the movies as well as the Leaky Cauldron pub which is very similar to my local back here in the UK!
Anyway I don't want to ruin it for you, if you are visiting Orlando then get a park-to-park Universal ticket and go an experience Diagon Alley and all that Harry Potter has to offer, you won't be disappointed.
When visiting Orlando why not stay in one of our over 600 luxury Orlando vacation rentals which are just minutes from Universal Studios. Book direct with the owners and save, why not pay the same for your own fully equipped vacation rental as you would for a single hotel room!
